Fine Art & Mixed Media Series
A selection of mixed-media works exploring identity, emotion, and materiality, and how the thinking behind them directly informs a design practice built on composition, texture, and visual storytelling.
Artist Statement
My fine-art practice is where I work out the harder questions: about identity, emotion, how we occupy space, and what we leave behind. I use layering as both method and metaphor: materials that don't typically belong together, set into visual conversation with each other.
Materials
Works in this series span acrylic and oil on canvas, mixed media collage, found object integration, and digital-analog hybrid techniques. Material choice is always intentional; the substance of the work is part of its meaning.
Process
Each piece begins with an emotional or conceptual question, moves through material experimentation, and finds resolution (or intentional irresolution) through layers of mark-making, erasure, and addition. Process documentation is part of the work.
Selected Works
Unyielding Self-Reflection (2023), Community Fine (2022), Divided by Self (2023), Sudden Despair (2021), Compromised (2023).
Design Relevance
The same attention to composition, material tension, emotional register, and layered meaning that I bring to fine art work directly informs every design decision I make. A fine-art background is not separate from commercial design ability; it is the foundation of it.
Demonstrates a fine-art foundation that goes beyond aesthetics, showing visual thinking, conceptual depth, and the ability to work with complex, ambiguous creative briefs. This is the proof that design instinct is built on something real.
